How to Setup a SP1 Series Solar Drive (Multi-Purpose Drive) used as AC Drive
Wiring
- Single Phase AC Input: Connect “Live” to “R” and “Neutral” to “T”.
- Motor Output:
- 3-Phase 230V Motor Wiring: Connect the Drive and Motor connections U, V and W (if rotation is incorrect, swop two phases).
- Single-Phase Motor Wiring (With Capacitor – 2 Wires): Connect “Live” to “U” and “Neutral” to “V”.
- Single-Phase Motor Wiring (Without Capacitor – 3 Wires): Identify the “Common”, “Start” and “Running” motor windings and connect “U” and “Common”, “V” and “Run”, “W” and “Start”.
Motor Selection
Make sure that the correct motor type has been selected:
- Set FE-03 accordingly (Set = 0 for 3-Phase 230V Motor; Set = 1 for Single-Phase Motor with Capacitor; Set = 2 for Single-Phase Motor without Capacitor). See more details regarding these options HERE.
If FWD and REV functionality are not required (FWD and REV functionality is not possible in PV mode):
Although using an AC input, keep the drive in PV mode and use the Solar Drive Motor Protection and Sleep/WakeUp settings as listed HERE, but take note of the following:
- PV Mode: Set as advised (set in PV Mode even though AC input is used)
- Low Voltage Protection: Ignore.
- Low Frequency Protection: Ignore.
- Dry Run Protection: Only set if required.
- Motor Overcurrent Protection: Set as advised.
- Fault Auto Reset Times: Set as advised.
- Output Phase Loss Protection: If Motor Selection FE-03 = 0 (for 3-Phase 230V Motor) or FE-03 = 2 (for Single-Phase Motor without Capacitor), update the Output Phase Loss Protection Parameter: F9-13 = 1 (otherwise keep it = 0).
- Free Stop Mode: Only set if required (if decelerate to STOP is required, ignore).
If FWD and REV functionality are required (FWD and REV functionality is only possible in AC mode):
AC Mode
Make sure that AC Mode has been enabled: FE-00 = 0
Fault Auto Reset Times
Update the Fault Auto Reset Parameter: F9-09: Reset Times = 0
Output Phase Loss Protection
If Motor Selection FE-03 = 0 (for 3-Phase 230V Motor) or FE-03 = 2 (for Single-Phase Motor without Capacitor), update the Output Phase Loss Protection Parameter: F9-13 = 1 (otherwise keep it = 0).
Motor Overcurrent Protection
- Wiring: Wire DI3and to TA2 and TC2 to COM
- F4-02: DI3 Function = 48 (External Stop Terminal)
- F8-36: Output Current Over Limit (example: set as 105%)
- F8-37: Output Current Over Limit Detect Relay Time (example: set as 30s)
- F5-02: Relay 2 (TA2 and TC2) = 36 (Output Current Exceeded)
Motor Low Current Protection (Dry Run Protection)
Low Current Alarm (Dry Run Protection) is NOT available in AC mode. If this is required, rather use the drive in PV mode (even though AC input is used).
How to Setup a SP3 Series Solar Drive used as AC Drive
If FWD and REV functionality are not required (FWD and REV functionality is not possible in PV mode):
- Update the Input Phase Loss Protection Parameter: F9-12 = 11
- Although using an AC input, keep the drive in PV mode and use the Solar Drive Motor Protection and Sleep/WakeUp settings as listed HERE, but take note of the following:
- PV Mode: Set as advised (set in PV Mode even though AC input is used)
- Low Voltage Protection: Ignore.
- Low Frequency Protection: Ignore.
- Dry Run Protection: Only set if required.
- Motor Overcurrent Protection: Set as advised.
- Fault Auto Reset Times: Set as advised.
- Output Phase Loss Protection: Set as advised.
Input Phase Loss Protection
Update the Input Phase Loss Protection Parameter: F9-12 = 11
Output Phase Loss Protection
Update the Output Phase Loss Protection Parameter: F9-13 = 1
Motor Overcurrent Protection
