24V DC Power Supply (Using Solar Drive PV Array as Power Source)

When installing a Solar Drive at a remote location with no alternative power source other than the PV Array driving the Solar Drive, powering external devices such as PLCs and Panel Fans can be challenging.

Using certain Solar Drive components can however resolve this issue. Using an additional Filter Board and Fan Board connected to the same PV Array can be used as a 24VDC Power Supply, supplying up to 4 Amps in total. This solution offers 2 Sets of terminals (one with 2 connectors and one with 3 connectors) which can be controlled by 2 Relays.

The below figure illustrates the solution with relevant connections as follows:

  • X: This terminal is used to connect the PV Array (DC Power Supply) to the Filter Board. This will power the product whilst the PV Array produces a 200 ~ 800 Voc output (this is typically for use with a SP3 Series Solar Drive with the same PV Array Voltage range requirements, but can also be used for SP1 Series Solar Drive installations as long as the PV Array Voltage is above 200Voc)
  • Y: This is the Filter Board terminal used to connect to the Fan Board.
  • Z1 and Z2: These are the two Fan Board terminals used to connect to the Filter Board
  • A1 and A2: These 2 connections provide 24VDC power and is switched on/off using Relay K1.
  • B1, B2 and B3: These 3 connections provide 24VDC power and is switched on/off using Relay K2.
  • K1: This Relay is used to switch Terminals A1 and A2 on/off.
  • K2: This Relay is used to switch Terminals B1, B2 and B3 on/off.
